Aussie Curves: Pink

I wasn't intending to play along this week, only because I thought I had run out of time to take outfit photos. Then by a complete dressing-up fluke, I wore some pink out to my best-friends birthday party last night! As it turns out, I actually wear pink more often than I thought I did- apparently it makes up quite a lot of my wardrobe!

Top: Autograph
Skirt: City Chic
Necklace and Clutch: Colette
Ring: eQuip

I cannot get enough of this cute little City Chic skirt! CC have a new range of 'Sweet Steals' with 50 items under $50 so this pretty little thing only set me back thirty bucks! I'm digging the shape so much, I'm thinking I might go back for a few more!!

This dinner was not long after a wicked thunderstorm and the post-rain chill was enough to get out my fabulous boots out! These Bennetts Boots are my biggest fashion indulgence. But I figure the perfect pair of boots is the ultimate wardrobe must have. And I know even though they set me back a mint, the real leather, fantastic make and wide calf fitting makes them a once in ten-year kind of purchase. If you have calf-zillas like me you have to check Bennetts Boots out!!

The awesome Brisbane city view from the restaurant!

Libby and I both had skirts with pockets! Seriously, I LOOOVVVEEEE skirts with pockets!!

I accessorized the pink with some bold turquoise accessories. How rad do hot pink and turquoise look together?! They are actually two of our wedding colours, I adore how vivid and happy the colours are!

Do you wear pink often??

Modcloth: Uniquely You Challenge

A month or so ago,  Amy, one of Modcloth's Lead Stylists, dropped me an email about their weekly Polyvore challenge, Uniquely You. The contest asks bloggers to create their own outfit based around one main feature item. I have been watching the challenge with interest, getting awesome inspiration from other bloggers. Then, when this weeks feature was a plus-size dress, I jumped at the chance to put a cute little outfit together! The gorgeous Remarkable Without A Cause Dress is vintage-styled, bold and eye-catching; perfect for Spring carnivals!!

Modcloth: Uniquely You Challenge

I couldn't resist mixing in more colour to the already bright dress. Whenever I think carnivals and spring I imagine turquoise and red. These faux suede wedges and the leather look belt give the perfect punch! I can see myself in this outfit sipping cocktails and watching the horse races or wandering around cute little boutiques at local carnivals! It reminds me of freedom, sunshine, colour, fun and shenanigans!

I added the hat because clearly, with this Aussie sun you can't forget to slip, slop, slap, especially when you plan to be outside all day! The cardi is a must have for when the chill creeps up after sunset, plus I just couldn't resist the polka dots! The clutch is just big enough to hold everything I need for a day on the green- ID, cash, cards, mobile and lipstick! And lastly, the necklace is the finishing touch of colour and co-ordination!

How would you style this dress??

Fatshion Faceoff: Lane Bryant Skater Dress

These 'One-Dress-on-Five-Ladies' outfits are my absolute favourite kind of Fatshion Faceoff post. If you've happened to have a squiz over all of our blogs, you would have probably noticed that Dani, Hanna, Mouna, Mhairi and I all have very different styles, different seasons and very different body shapes. I genuinely love seeing how we all rock our one dress in our varying styles!

Dress: c/o Lane Bryant
Belt: ASOS Curve
Shoes: Betts
Necklace: Diva
Bag: Thrifted
Hat: Target

This gorgeous little Skater Sweater Dress was very kindly given to us from Lane Bryant. Now I'm not going to lie, remember what I said about different seasons? We are having a unusually hot Spring days here in Brisbane at the moment- I'm talking 36°C (or 97°F) and the mention of a 'sweater dress' made me quake in my air-conditioned lounge room. But this dress is so surprisingly light that I could comfortably wear it for most of this sunny day! Paired with some funky accessories and these ultra-fabulous retro school shoes, I was ready to head to breakfast with my ladies!

We have just watched The Great Gatsby, so I was inspired to buy this geometric gold-leaf-like belt. Its a kind of geometric style I rarely wear, but I'm loving the way the overall look came together with the art deco belt and hat and the 1960-70's dress and bag! Its like a clash of fashion generations!

My favourite thing about this dress is the non-iron shape and material. No matter how fabulous an item of clothing is, if its high maintenance to look after, it often ends in the hardly worn pile. I have an ingrained hatred of ironing (TANGENT: I think it has a lot to do with the fact my high school uniform was a 'must-iron-before-every-wear' blouse. Seriously. How annoying. Couldn't I have spent more time learning and less irnoning?!) so find myself drawn to the more easy care fabrics.

I am incredibly excited to see what all the FF babes come up with this week so as always please check us all out!

Brand Spotlight: Scarlett & Jo Powerfit Dress

When I heard that Scarlett & Jo were making a dress with a built in mesh shape-wear lining, I was more than a little excited. A body con dress without the need to wear added suck-me-in underwear?! I was sold! The S&J team very kindly sent me over this dress to show you and from the minute I put it on, I felt like a movie star!

Belt: ASOS Curve
Clutch: BooHoo
Facinator: eQuip
Heels: Target

Spring is races and wine festival season in Australia (and no doubt the rest of the world!), so I knew exactly how I was going to style this Purple Spot Powerfit Dress up. Add some gold accessories, a flash of pink and a gorgeous headdress- a day on the green here I come!

The cut of the dress holds comfortably over my curves and the mesh lining really does support my thighs and belly area. I felt pleasantly contained without being restricted- there is still lots of movement and ease of wear in this dress. There is nothing worse than looking fabulous in a dress, yet feeling horrible in the hidden layers of shape-wear underneath!

Now I'm sure you have seen the photos already, but some of my favourite bloggers have been featured wearing these dresses- and no matter how different their body shapes or sizes, they ALL look fabulous!!!

I stole this picture from Georgina because I couldn't resists showing you how fabulous her, Bethany and Callie looked rocking their Powerfit Dresses! Seriously. That shape, that cut, that material. I'm in love!

The colour is a very diffrent look for me, but I'm really enjoying the overall sophisticated and curvaceous look to the dress. I'm also loving the cute mesh detailing above the sweetheart neckline- it gives a cheeky flash of flesh without being over the top.

Talking about colours, the Scarlett & Jo Powerfit Dresses is currently in stock in TWENTY-SIX different styles and patterns on the Evans website! All with the gorgeous necklines, flattering cuts and that amazing suck-in-yet-not-squeezed-in mesh lining! If you love the cute of the dress but aren't interested in the lining, they also do a non-mesh version for five pounds less!

And my most favourite thing about this dress?? It's available in sizes 14 to 28. Thank you Evans for making fabulous dresses available to all of us!

These are a few of the others that I have my eye on currently!

What do you think of the dress??

Fatshion Faceoff: Shoe boots

I haven't worn these shoe boots in such a long time. In fact, I had to unearth them from a mighty pile of shoes and stored clothes to find them! I remember when I got them I loved the hell out of them (is that even a positive thing to say?! Interpret it as lots of loving)! I hunted for some like this for months! Imagine a female version of David Attenborough stalking the shoe shops. Once found, I wore these babies as often as I could. Yet after a few hours in this outfit I remember why I had reluctantly stored them- epic ball of foot pain! As hot as they are, my feet (I almost wrote 'balls' HA!) are killing me. I either need to invest in some serious gel pads or keep up the search for the perfect pair of shoe boots!

Jacket: Harlow
Top: Kmart
Jeans: Crossroads
Boots: Kmart
Necklace: City Chic
Bracelet: Torrid

I'm obsessed with this Harlow jacket. It's the perfect weight for changing seasons. I'm sure you have heard me complain about the uncharacteristically high temperatures we are having; well with that is coming some chilly evenings. This jacket is lightweight enough that I can carry it with me and wear open in the sun, yet warm enough that I'm ready for that sudden mercury drop. And seriously, it's covered in sequins. Does it get any better than that?!

Floral cut offs are rocking my world right now. I would never have been caught dead in these a few years ago, yet these have barely left my legs in the last few months! Crossroads have some of the cutest little pants and often have awesome sales-  you can pick up pieces for a steal if you keep an eye on the stores!

As always, don't forget to see what all the ladies are up to this week!
