OOTD: Monochrome and red

Sometimes you just need to rock a little bit of monochrome. You've probably noticed already, but I love colour. I very rarely wear dominating black and white- but there is a definite timelessness to it that I must admit, is gorgeous.

Blouse: Simply Be
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Necklace: Diva
Jellys: Jelly Beans
Sunnies: eQuip
Bag: a thrift shop find

We got home from Melbourne in the wee hours of Sunday morning, so getting dolled up was not on my proirity list today. I threw on this skirt because its light and breezy for our Aussie summer and this gorgeous blouse was the last clean thing in my (still not) unpacked suitcase. The red accessories I added when I saw how 'black-and-white' I looked. I couldn't resist adding at least a little colour. I loved the way this outfit came together even if was a total fluke- sometimes the chicest outfits are the ones you don't need to think about- it all just falls together naturally.

The print on this peplum top seriously makes me happy. I always feel flirty and cute when I wear this top. It must be the cute little birdies-  I'd love to find some pink flamingos for my backyard! The funky little bag was a $2 op-shop find- bargain! You just can't beat the real 'thunnkk' the clip makes when you snap the clasp together. Its hard to find such great quality these days.

How are you dressing to survive this heat?

Do you wear monochrome often?

Fatshion Faceoff: Christmas

Family, friends and good food. These are the three words that I love most about the holiday season. A full belly, a glass of wine in your hand and surrounded by loved ones. There is so much sharing, happiness and good times. Its just fantastic.

These happy snaps were taken at an early Christmas dinner with my closet girlfriends and it has all of those things mentioned above. Bliss!

I adore these girls. Celebrating the end of a fabulous year with my fabulous ladies!

Skirt: Modcloth
Dress and Hat + Neo's outfit: Cheap shop
Wedges: ZU/ Thongs: Crocs

Funnily enough the top I'm wearing is actually a size 8 mini-dress. Its tight yes, but makes a fabulous top with my Modcloth skirt. And yet more proof that tag size is just that- a tag; its always worth trying things on!

Getting all costumed up alwasy adds to the fun of holidays and parties! I couldn't resist this Aussie Santa suit for Ben with short sleeves and arms for our hot Christmas! And of course, Neo looks like the cutest thing since Shirley Temple in her little outfit! She is growing so fast though she was already too big for it!

Check out all my festive babes this week and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!

Do you dress up for Christmas??

14 Dec 2013

Today it became official. I really am getting married....

It doesn't matter that I've sent out save the date cards, that I've booked the reception or already promised over 15 grand to various suppliers. Today it became real. As I slipped into the first (of many) white gown, I suddenly felt more grown up than I ever have. And at that moment it truly hit me, I really AM getting married! As ridiculous as it sounds, it took ten kilos of lace, beading and taffeta for it all to feel real.

I've dreamt about my dress for as long as I can remember. Sure the image in my head has changed as I've grown up, but the feelings have always been the same: I'm full of love, happiness and surrounded by my family and friends. Up ahead is a (most likely bearded) man who wants to spend his whole life with me and it starts with this outfit. This dress. This day.

None of these made the shortlist, but I still wanted to share a few of my happy snaps from today. If you are on Instagram please check me out- there will be lots of wedding goodness in the next few months!

My beautiful bridesmaids: Liss, Emma and Libby <3

In seven months I walk down the aisle and marry the man of my dreams in the dress of my imaginations! Bring it on!

OOTD: Christmas parties

I love Christmas time. I love the parties, the presents, the family, the love and the holidays! But the best bit? Getting to dress up! Its that time of year for getting together and celebrating and that always calls for some serious babe-in out!

I actually ended up agonizing over what to wear this year. The work party always feels like the most important. Especially in a job such as nursing. You normally see each other at your absolute worst- sweaty, no makeup, tired, yelled at, rundown and more than likely, covered in other peoples body fluids. So its always the party I want to go most out there for! And there is a lot of truth in the saying 'Work Hard, Play Hard'. No-one I know parties as hard as nurses!

Peplum top and skater skirt: City Chic
Necklace: Colette
Flower Crown: JayJays
Wedges: Target

As you can see I had a spray tan before the event (NO way?! You mean you aren't normally that extreme shade of 'just left a week in the tropics' tan?! You don't say?!), so I made the most of it and got my pins out!
I always feel more confident with a tan. Isn't that ridiculous. Something about that glow strips back the last of my inhibitions. Enough that this short skirt didn't phase me at all!

Funnily enough, this City Chic 'dress' isn't a dress at all! Its a peplum top and a skirt in the same print! I loved the way it came together as a one piece!

Crystal and I ended up wearing the same necklaces in different shades! The benefit of fast fashion accessories like these from Colette is that you can buy a few without feeling like you've broken the bank. I love adding a splash of colour for under $15!

And now, I need to take a moment to talk about these shoes. These fabulous, enchantingly fabulous shoes. Siighhhh. I purr when I look at them.

I went on an epic adventure to find these. My local Target store didn't have my size and I wanted them in time for the weekend. Thus, the adventure begins! Three Target's later and I'm swiping my card at the register and these hot babies never leaving my sight! Best $40 I've spent this year- and ridiculously comfortable to boot!

Fatshion Faceoff: Statement ring

I love a good splash of bling. An attention grabbing necklace, chandelier drop earrings or a bold ring, if its shiny and pretty I'm usually sold. I've been cleaning out my wardrbobe lately and actually just found a treasure trove of old statement rings I'd forgotten about so I was super excited about busting out one or two for this weeks challenge.

Dress: City Chic
Jacket: Harlow
Necklace: eQuip
Ring: Colette
Flatforms: Zu

We met up with some friends for dinner last night and as usual, I was running late. I pulled on this super cute City Chic dress and styled it up quickly. I'm actually loving the lightness of the material and the cute little cut, its seen some serious strut time in my high rotation wardrobe lately (see it remixed casual here!).

I picked up these flatforms when I was in Melbourne bargain shopping at Bridge Road. These beauties set me back a grand total of ten bucks! I snapped them up straight away! I adore a wedge and a flatform, you get the sexy leg without the sore feet. I swear my love affair with platforms started when Spice Girls stormed the world- cute little dresses and chunky heels, I wanted in!

Oh, and this funky little bag was a present from my mum, cheeky lady she is! It's awesome for carrying around all that extra stuff you need- my whole normal handbag, iPad and a bottle of wine are stashed in there!

Check out all my babes this week!
