OOTD: Gold Coast sunshine!

Two weeks ago Problogger ( a big blogging workshop) was held on the Gold Coast and some of my favourite Aussie bloggers were in town! As much as I wanted to go, what with the wedding and our USA trip- the conference itself was out of price range this year. I did however, get to do some very cool hobnobbing and chatting on the night before it started at the Blog Chicks meet up!

Even better, before the party I crashed Suger and Dani's room at the QT (totally lives up to that name by the way, that hotel is CUUUUUTTTEEE!) and got to spend an awesome day sun baking, lounging and relaxing with those babes!

I love this picture Dani took of us in the pool! One of the greatest things about blogging is the totally awesome friends you make. I can honestly say that I know I've made some lifetime-lasting friendships because of this little blog!

Soooooo, the evening of the Blog Chicks event, we drank, dressed and got made up together- then hit the party! I'd been looking for a funky reason to bust out this FABulous Jessica Simpson dress- its such amazing quality!

Dress: Jessica Simpson Plus collection via Macy's
Stockings: We Love Colors
Heels: Target
Flower Crown: Jay Jay's
Clutch: Kate Hill
Necklace: Modcloth

Thanks to Dani for snapping these piccys for me!

Now I'm not going to lie- these shoes did not last long. This was just after I had bought them and it was the first wear, as hot as they are I could not go the distance. Even if the distance was only the lobby! This was also the first wear of my flower crown! I'm loving it! I'm having to stop myself wearing it too frequently!

At the end of this day I'd felt like I'd had a week off! I need some adventures in the Gold Coast sunshine more often!

Fatshion Faceoff: Skulls

I'm loving all the funky patterns and prints that are in fashion right now- it's so refreshing to see more than just florals or stripes. I've always thought I myself as a little rock/grunge chick at heart, so I've pretty much snapped up every piece of skull print clothes I can get my hands on. I knew exactly what top I was going to wear for this post- my fabulous Torrid sheer skull blouse. But I wanted to funk it up a bit so have (gasp!) worn it as a crop top!

Top: Torrid
Skirt: City Chic
Necklace: BooHoo
Flats: Rubi
Clutch: Kmart

There is something so liberating about standing here with that little scrap of belly showing. I feel like that little peek is giving the finger to every fat-hating person in the world. Plus, it's super hot right now so it's nice to cool off a little too!

If you would believe it, these Rubi flats cost me $10! What a shoe bargain! I love the little metallic pointed toe- you can even almost see me in the reflection! The bold pop of purple is also a total eye catcher!

How amazing are skirts with pockets?! Argh! I love them!!!!

On a side note, my spray tan is now on its 7th day and starting to show everyday wear and tear on the colour. I've loved being a more golden colour and the spray was sooooo much better than the dodgy job I normally do with creams. I think I might be a spray tan convert!

If you haven't already noticed, we are now doing the FF posts once a fortnight- I'm liking having a break between posting- and to give you guys a bit more variety as well! Check out all my babes in their skulls this week!

OOTD: Ben's Birthday

Birthdays are a big deal in our house. We always make sure the birthday person feels special and spoilt. We often do parties ( I demand a costume party every year!), or at the very least, get seriously on the celebratory turps in the city! Most importantly, I use birthdays as an excuse to get dressed up!

Skirt: H&M Plus Size
Tank: Forever 21+
Unicorn necklace: Modcloth
Bubble necklace: (pretty sure its from) eQuip
Heels: Target
Clutch: DIY'd by me!
Headband: Jay Jays

It's going to be a stinking hot summer this year- we've already had days where its been over 30 degrees Celsius and Spring has only just started! So, in the spirit of summer days, I got a spray tan! I'm sure you have noticed how pasty (/glow in the dark) white my skin normally is- so I've been very much enjoying the golden glow! And by enjoying I mean wearing shorter skirts! It's time for some skin baring!

I wanted this skirt more than anything I've ever wanted before. Seriously. It was intense shopping lust. It was part of the first collection from the H&M plus size range and it sold out before I could even say 'credit card'. This was a good eighteen months or so back now, so when I saw someone selling this beauty on Facebook, I was all over it!

I couldn't resist adding more colour to the outfit with this funky little Forever 21+ tank and my new flower crown! Why I haven't already jumped on the flower crown bandwagon is beyond me- I'm near well in love with this cute little headband!! The unicorn necklace was a last minute addition- because I thought the outfit felt so magical that I had to wear it too!

And then the fun began! I'm not going to talk you ear off about what we got up to, but we met with some friends for drinks at Hotel Orient- funnily enough now well known for its Mexican food! Drinks turned into tequila shots and tequila shots turned into shenanigans. That and huge nachos. Happy birthday Ben!!!

Are birthdays still a big deal for you??

Aussie Curves: Peplum

I swear the minute peplums came back into shops I was all over them. They are one of the few fashion styles that I well and truly embraced. I couldn't even tell you how many peplum styles things I have now! The fit and flare in the perfect place for me- I seriously cannot get enough of them! You've seen me (too) many times in the old pencil skirt and peplum top combo, so I thought I'd mix it up for this post and wear a peplum skirt!

Skirt: eShakti
Top: Torrid
Wedges: Lane Bryant
Bag: eQuip

To be completely honest, there is nothing special about this outfit. We were running some Saturday afternoon errands and I slipped this skirt on because its comfy and easy to wear. The wedges were a last minute decision so I looked at least a little more dressed up! I have no makeup on and my hair isn't brushed- but I'm not too fussed because I'm 'outfit distracting' you with bold colours and a peplum hem- or at least, that's what I tell myself! ;)

How do you feel about peplum??

Fatshion Faceoff: Mini Skirt

Min skirts are well and truly my thing. I love a cute, flirty little skirt paired with a funky top. It always makes me feel free and girly. Last weekend we went to the Beaudesert show where a friend of mine had airbrushed one of the derby cars. So we went along for carnival fun and to watch his art work get smashed up- what a perfect time to feel girly and fun!

Top & Blazer: Forever 21+
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Stockings: We Love Colors
Flats: Crocs
Handbag & Necklace: eQuip

I couldn't resist mixing up my colours and shapes for this outfits. I figure a local fair is the perfect chance to be able to dress as crazy as I want! Florals, stripes, gold, black and turquoise! Winning!

I love adding a slouchy boyfriend blazer to an otherwise dressy outfit. It instantly makes me feel more relaxed and chilled. Plus it's super warm and easy to layer with. I adore this turquoise beauty so much that I have it in purple as well!

As always, check out all my ladies and their own take on min-skirts! If you haven't already noticed, we've decided to do our FF posts fortnightly now- which I think we give us all a great break!
