Fatshion Faceoff: Hair Bandana

Whenever I think of a Rockabilly style hair bandanna I always imagine that 1940's 'We Can Do It!' tough-women poster. I still remember the first time I saw it, she looked so strong and determined; like she could handle anything. I wanted to be that cool one day.......So maybe I never got that cool, but I can get inspired by her look right?!

Tunic: Autograph
Tights: Moda via BigW
Flats: Rubi
Necklace and headband: eQuip

Melissa gave me this denim tunic top earlier this year. I wasn't sure it was really me, but it's actually become somewhat of a relaxed outfit staple. It's really comfy and easy to throw on in a rush. To give it more shape, I added the belt and necklace- it also helps to draw the eye to my waist.

So I cheated a bit by using a headband instead of a proper bandana. I find that unless I bobby pin the on, bandannas slip off my head and get annoying. Luckily, you can get these knock-off-cheating 'bandannas'- much like clip-on ties! ;)

I love that it's a flash of colour in a pretty ordinary outfit- it makes it pop! And it seems to add that girly twist to an otherwise quite masculine look.

Check out all the Fatshion Faceoff Rockabilly babes!

  9. Love it, you look super cool in that bicep pic! Did the headband get sore after a while? I like the headband trend but I find they often give me a headache after a few hours. :(

  10. Love it! The hair scarf is so cute, and I really love the shirt on you. It's different to what we normally see you wearing, but it does suit you so well! I got a couple of River Island hair scarves with wire under the fabric to hold the shape and they seem to stay on quite well without hair clips holding them in place. :)

  11. Love the outfit, it's something I would wear in a heartbeat too. Denim shirts = laid back, rock n roll goodness. And how can I not love the first picture, totally badass feminism?
