Fatshion Faceoff: Sparkly Necklace

First off- Happy New Year! Wishing you all a wonderful 2014 full of love and laughter!

Today is January 1st here in Australia and I'm feeling ultra seedy after a fabulous night out last night. Getting dressed up was the last thing on my mind today. To quote Bridget Jones 'wish I could be home with my head in a toilet like all normal people...'. But we had errands to run and a puppy to play with- so the show must go on!

Dress: Simply Be
Belt: ASOS Curve
Necklace: BooHoo
Flats: Rubi
Bag: Vintage

Adding a necklace is an instant outfit improver. Whenever I'm having a bad hair day or feeling like my outfit is a bit 'blah', I throw on a funky necklace and always feel like it pulls it all together so well. This necklace from BooHoo is one of my favourites. Bold and eye-catching, its the perfect de-blah-er!

As alwasy- check out all my FF ladies this week!

OOTD: Monochrome and red

Sometimes you just need to rock a little bit of monochrome. You've probably noticed already, but I love colour. I very rarely wear dominating black and white- but there is a definite timelessness to it that I must admit, is gorgeous.

Blouse: Simply Be
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Necklace: Diva
Jellys: Jelly Beans
Sunnies: eQuip
Bag: a thrift shop find

We got home from Melbourne in the wee hours of Sunday morning, so getting dolled up was not on my proirity list today. I threw on this skirt because its light and breezy for our Aussie summer and this gorgeous blouse was the last clean thing in my (still not) unpacked suitcase. The red accessories I added when I saw how 'black-and-white' I looked. I couldn't resist adding at least a little colour. I loved the way this outfit came together even if was a total fluke- sometimes the chicest outfits are the ones you don't need to think about- it all just falls together naturally.

The print on this peplum top seriously makes me happy. I always feel flirty and cute when I wear this top. It must be the cute little birdies-  I'd love to find some pink flamingos for my backyard! The funky little bag was a $2 op-shop find- bargain! You just can't beat the real 'thunnkk' the clip makes when you snap the clasp together. Its hard to find such great quality these days.

How are you dressing to survive this heat?

Do you wear monochrome often?

Fatshion Faceoff: Maxi Skirt

I reckon every woman needs a few lightweight, breezy maxi skirts in their wardrobe. Easy to layer and last all year long, they are also super simple to dress up or casual. I fully embraced the mullet hem fad of the last few years and couldn't resist this coral one from Simply Be. So for this weeks Fatshion Faceoff, I'm technically only maxi-skirted on one side!

Skirt: Simply Be
Top: Forever 21+
Belt: ASOS Curve
Flats: Rubi
Bracelet: Torrid

The skirt is double layered with slip like material underneath. While the top layer gives it such good structure. My biggest worry with maxi skirts is that the material will bunch and crease over my belly- but this one sits perfectly, it going to be on high rotation this summer!

These aren't actually the shoes I intended to wear (although they are super cute!). Neo, now 12 weeks old, has started getting at my shoe rack and hiding one out of a pair. Bad- because obviously its crazy annoying and time wasting, but good because its got me rotating around my everyday wearables. Its also causing me to wear my flip-flops less, she seems incredibly taken with them in particular!
Check out all my maxi-skirted FF babes!

Fatshion Faceoff: Wedge Sandals (& my birthday!)

I'm a bit late with today's post, not only because I've been working like a crazy lady to get more dosh for NYC, but also because it's my birthday! I've been out and about all day today- in one fabulous party dress! I've swapped my shoes and accessories but kept the base dress the same. I love having a special outfit to wear on my birthday, whenever I look at it from now on, I will always remember some of the fun times I've had wearing it!

Sooooooo, the actual theme for this weeks FF is wedge sandals! I'm sure you are all sick of me raving about wedges, I way prefer them over heels and I love the added height. I wore these flashy green sandals out to lunch with my besties today- to where else but Max Brenner!!!

(bare feet in the carpark Liv- CLASSSYYY!!! Its because I couldn't get the self timer to work I swear!!! I kept having to run backwards and forwards to the camera!!)

Dress: Simply Be
Blazer: ASOS Curve
Tights: Kmart
Wedges: Lane Bryant
Necklace: Markets

As it turns out, Emma and I were wearing the same hot pink blazer!!! This is one of the reasons I love her so much, not only is she totally rocking and crazy fun, she also has super cute style (lol ;)!! She knows I am going to put her in a pink, poofy bridesmaid dress for the wedding and she still wants to hang out with me- now THAT is true friend dedication!

Ben, my little brother, big sister and Ben's parents all went in together and bought me a new DSLR for my birthday present! I opened it this morning and I'm not sure I've put it down since. The first photo I took nearly knocked my socks off. I was home alone playing around with it and litterally yelled into the emptyness 'NO WAY!??! IT TAKES PICTURES BETTER THAN I CAN SEE?!?!'. I had a few problems playing with the auto-timer today (ahem, excuse the shoeless picture while I ran to get into the group photo!), but I have already had heaps of fun learning with it today. So, now I'm going to spam you with a few piccys from dinner in town tonight  Ben bought us tickets to a three course meal with matching wines in the city!! OMNOMNOMNOMOM!!

This weekend we are having a disco themed birthday party at our house! And let me tell you, there better not be a single wedge or heel in sight- I want flats for partying allllll night long!!!!! Stay tuned for proper birthday updates!!!

Check out my hot footed, wedged sandaled FF ladies too!!!

Fatshion Faceoff: Simply Be dress

I am so, so excited about this weeks Fatshion Faceoff challenge! One of the coolest things about these posts, is that we all have such different body shapes and our own personal style. So how rad would it be to see us all rocking one dress in our own unique ways! Well the lovely team at Simply Be have sponsored our post so we can do just that!

Dress: Simply Be (gifted)
Belt: ASOS Curve
Heels: Torrid
Bag and Earrings: Thrifted market finds!

When I opened the wrapping on this gorgeous dress, the first thing I noticed was the amazing quality. Its made of a perfect weight cotton and spandex that gives it just the right amount of drape and shape. I love the way it hugs my waist and then gently flares out. The cap sleeves have the perfect amount of coverage for the dress to transition for Summer to Winter too!

What I love most about the dress is the amazing colours. Its so vibrant and bright- a real head turner. These piccys were taken after dinner and are quite late at night; during the day the colours are electric!

I am so excited to see all the Fatshion Faceoff ladies in their Simply Be dress! Go check them all out and let us know what you think!
