OOTD: Black, floral and sheer

You know those days when you want to feel like a babein' lady? And I don't just mean like 'I want to feel pretty today' but a legitimate 'I want to put this on, know I look amazing and not have to worry about what I'm wearing all day long'. Yeah. That good. Scarlet & Jo dresses always tick those boxes for me. Simple yet detailed. Classic yet modern. Flirty and demure. The perfect babein' lady dress!

Dress: C/O Scarlet & Jo
Shoes: Betts
Bag: Ebay
Sunnies: New Look

The team from Scarlet & Jo sent me this dress from part of their prom dress collection. I knew as soon as I saw it that it would fit like a dream. The fit and flare cut sits perfectly on my wide hips and the skirt has an attached net lining which gives just the right amount of gentle 'boof' for everyday and dressed up wear.

Mostly I like that its a twist on an everyday little black dress. With the colour splash, the cheeky sheer panel and the flare shape, there is so much already going on that you don't need to add many accessories for it to feel like a complete outfit.

Although this particular dress is nearly sold out, Scarlet & Jo release thier collection in sizes 14 to 32, I love thier size inclusion! From a fit point of view, this dress is a UK size 24 and I'd say it would be on par with our AUS 22-24. The hips are cut more as a free size with the flare and its super comfortable to wear- as with every S&J piece I've ever owned. And this brings me back to what I was saying about loving the brand. Having so much faith in a brand that you can buy something online and know it'll be perfect. That might just be the holy-grail of fashion!

#MYNTheartsAU

I remember the first time I saw MYNT1792, we were in New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week. It was 2012 and I was just starting to feel like a  'grown up' blogger. I also thought I had a pretty good idea about my own style and favourite plus-size brands. Well this trip certainly made me widen my fashion scope!

I met some of the MYNT1792 team at a shopping event, early in the FFFW schedule. It was awesome chatting to them and hearing about their ideas for the label. There was also a few gorgeous samples on hand for us to try out and see their quality.

A few days later, MYNT1792 was under the lights at the Indie Designs Catwalk. It was also the first night I'd seen a plus-size runway. It was awesome! I sat wide eyed the entire night, watching all the pretty designs (that I could get in MY SIZE!) go by. Liberating and eye-opening.

Fast forward two years and MYNT are launching their brand into the international market with the #MYNTheartsAU campaign and an Aussie shopping site! When Suger told me they were keen to work together on a post, I pretty much jumped down the phone in excitement! I could still remember the way their collection stood out to me on the runway. Em, Sugs and I got together and picked some of our favourite pieces from the new range, and had a girly, fashiony morning!

As always, it got a bit silly, but in some ways I think that makes the photos even better! I loved the way Suger styled up the Veronica Skirt, every-time I see her work OOTD photos on Instagram, I long for a job where I can wear fabulous corporate wear. I can see Suger wearing this from office to dinner and still looking like a rockstar.

I love Em's funky style. She makes the cut of her skirt look flirty and playful.
I couldn't resist the structured look of the Fabienne Blouse. I wore it with this floaty skirt to balance out its lines. I rolled up the sleeves for a cooler feel, but its size 4X cut fit my torso perfectly.

Wearing: Rene Skirt and Lillian Top

Wearing: Damaris Sheath Dress

The minute I saw this tan and black sheath dress, I instantly imagined it with big gold accessories. It had my name all over it! Emma rocks a pencil skirt cut and I love how she lightly tucked in the Lillian Top to create such a chic silhouette. I'm putting me name on the top of the 'next to borrow list' for Suger's Diana Wrap Dress. Its such a wicked mix of colours and a heavy silk feeling to it.  I didn't realise how much I loved it until I saw her wearing it!

So what's even cooler that a couple of lady babes dressed up in fabulousness? The fact its all currently 40% off! Yep, killer deals to be had team!

Which outfit do you like best??

OOTD: Cookies and a dinosaur

Happy New Year team! My goodness, 2014 felt like it flew past. This was a relatively quiet festive season for us, lots of relaxed family time and much lazing about at home avoiding the heat! Fashion wise, I've been reaching for equally cool and comfortable clothing. I've also become a bit of a midi skirt lover, a length I've only just started to embrace.

Skirt and crop: Missguided +
Bag: Modcloth
Shoes: Betts
Necklace: Bought at Supernova

I feel like midi skirts are my now my Summer jeans. That item of clothing I leave lying about because I know I'll wear it again tomorrow. Its comfortable and goes with everything. Yes, my Summer jeans outfit equivalent is midi skirts!

This particular killer set is from Missguided Plus. They have some really cute matching crop and midi skirt prints. And its even more rad because its a new plus range from a straight size store. And nailing it. Its awesome that they kept the edge to the collection when expanding their sizes. Its so fantastic to have more affordable and fast fashion styles available in my size.

How cool is this Butter Cookies bag?! With that and my roaring dinosaur necklace, I faced the shops for the last of my Christmas buying. I swear I kept thinking I was done and then I'd remember something else we needed and have to run back to the shops again. And then end up getting stuck there for hours because of the crowds and the sales. When its days like that, you need cookies, a midiskirt and a dinosaur to get you through.

How do you feel about midi-skirts??
What do you think of the crop trend?

OOTD: Cool without trying

When I visited Ben in China while he was there for work, I saw a handful of women wearing these super cute reindeer antler hats. I pretty much turned Shanghai upside down trying to find one for myself (unsuccessfully I might add), and Ben, being the kickass husband that he is, said he would try his hardest to bring one home for me. In fact, he almost missed his plane doing a last minute dash around the shops for one of these bloody hats. He came home empty handed, I was bummed about it but life went on. And then, a magical parcel arrived in the post on Thursday night. As it turned out, he and one of his Chinese work colleagues had been secret-squirreling the last few weeks to get me one. And its has barely been off my head all weekend!

Jacket: c/o 17 Sundays
Leggings: Kmart
Flats: Rubi
Hat: China
Necklace: ASOS
Lipstick: Limecrime

How totally awesome is this 17 Sundays kimono jacket?! Funny story about this top, Suger had come over for a sleep over and packed a bunch of the new 17 stock for me to try on and sigh over. I fell instantly in love with the slouchy and relaxed cut of this jacket, I love that its not trying to be boho or hipster, its just an inherently cool item of clothing in its own right. Its such a new and rad cut, so different to any of the current patterned and printed lightweight kimonos around. And apparently I fawned over it so much that Sug and the 17 crew decided I could keep it! Gems that they are!

I wore this outfit out last night for end of year drinks with some of Ben's work buddies. I felt cool and chic the entire night, there is something about this rocking jacket that just gives off that rad vibe. Plus, with a killer hat like this and my cute 'Got Milk' bag, it pretty much makes for coolness without trying.

OOTD: Summer Days

Summer has hit us hard this year in Australia. It started early and with a vengeance! Because of the heat, I've been spending a lot of time in boring shorts or cropped leggings. I'm always looking for ways to throw a curve ball into my Summer wardrobe (I style up much better in the cooler months!) and from the first moment I put this Scarlett & Jo dress on, I knew I'd found it!

Dress: c/o Scarlett and Jo
Headband: Jay Jay's
Flats: Target
Necklace: Bought on holidays in Greece!

The dress is super lightweight without being too clingy. I love the feel of a thin cotton-like material in Summer, breathable and soft. The long kimono is attached to the shoulders by one loop in these photos and after that first wear, I separated them so the dress and jacket are two pieces. They are both so versatile, I know I will get heaps of wear out of them!

Sizing wise, I'm wearing a UK24 which fits pretty much perfectly. The dress is a body-con like fit but without too much cling.  The kimono is a relaxed cut with plenty of room in the arms and the waist. Together they have such an awesome bohemian vibe.

I've actually worn the black dress quite a few times now, on its on just with basic accessories. I love the midi length, it's such an instant chic cut that transition between casual and dressed up easily. For this outfit, we were heading out to lunch with some of Ben's friends so I opted for a more relaxed beach vibe with the t-bar flats and flower crown. I love the way the crown compliments the kimonos colours, plus I never seem to have enough excuses to wear my flower facinators!

How do you mix up your Summer wardrobe??

OOTD: Colour splash

When Ben and I first started dating, I wore a lot of black. I look back on those photos and wonder where I was hiding all my colour. I do love the chic look of an all black outfit, but I always feel more confident when I dress it up with a bit of colour. Even better is a great classic LBD with a colour splash like this!

Dress: c/o IGIGI
Belt: ASOS Curve
Bag: Crossroads
Wedges: Betts
Sunnies: Domino Dollhouse
Necklace: Lovisa

I love the way this dress hugs my curves. The cut of it is such a classic shape and it creates a fantastic nipped in waist look, even if there isn't much actual waist there to nip-in! I've always found that IGIGI dresses lend an instant feminine glam to whatever I'm wearing, there's something about this sillehoutte that makes me feel like a woman to be reckoned with!

These wedges are some of the comfiest shoes I own. I really wish I snapped them up in different colours, they are such an awesome statement shoe and I always get compliments on them when I wear them. I added my (super $6!) heart bag which is perfect for a long day out, I can almost fit the kitchen sink in this bad boy!

I figured that with a killer dress and red essential pieces, the logical next step was gold accessories. I'm a major fan of belts as jewellery, yes, it's not holding anything up but man does it look pretty sitting there on my waist! If I can add a belt without looking silly, I normally do. And of course, the finishing touch is a funky necklaces. And pineapples are about as awesome as it gets! Except for unicorns. But I was fresh out of unicorns that day.

Do you prefer colour or all black outfits??
