Aussie Curves: Black and White

When I first started to discover fashion, I went through a black and white phase. I liked the instant chic-ness of a white blouse with a black skirt and it became a look I well and truly wore out for a year of so. When I started playing with colours it was love at first pink skirt! I must admit that now, pure black and white isn't something I really put together much, so I had fun dressing up in this outfit!

Belt: ASOS Curve
Bangle: Torrid
Clutch: Kate Hill
Flats: Rubi Shoes

My girlfriend Kendall is moving countries at the moment so last weekend we had a goodbye dinner with a few of us. I love looking at photos of us out on the town- I always get so inspired by my ladies fashions. I never hesitate to dress up when we go out because I always know they will all be bringing it!

I wore this totally rad Cult of California peplum skirt as the base of my outfit. I truly love this skirt. It's got a sewn in pair of shorts under the skirt so you don't need to worry about chafe or flashing! Plus it has a glorious silky feel that makes it so easy to wear. I paired it up with some bold gold as well, I'm a little obsessed with this gold bangle at the moment, its been making an appearance in lots of my outfits.

I bought this white blouse agggeess ago purely because I loved the peter-pan collar. It turned out being far to long on me and quite billowy, but I adore it tucked in! Its got a cute little bird in flight print and is light enough that its easy to wear and layer all year. Then some flats, my favourite clutch of the moment and I'm ready to go!

How do you wear black and white?

Fatshion Faceoff: Maxi Skirt

I reckon every woman needs a few lightweight, breezy maxi skirts in their wardrobe. Easy to layer and last all year long, they are also super simple to dress up or casual. I fully embraced the mullet hem fad of the last few years and couldn't resist this coral one from Simply Be. So for this weeks Fatshion Faceoff, I'm technically only maxi-skirted on one side!

Skirt: Simply Be
Top: Forever 21+
Belt: ASOS Curve
Flats: Rubi
Bracelet: Torrid

The skirt is double layered with slip like material underneath. While the top layer gives it such good structure. My biggest worry with maxi skirts is that the material will bunch and crease over my belly- but this one sits perfectly, it going to be on high rotation this summer!

These aren't actually the shoes I intended to wear (although they are super cute!). Neo, now 12 weeks old, has started getting at my shoe rack and hiding one out of a pair. Bad- because obviously its crazy annoying and time wasting, but good because its got me rotating around my everyday wearables. Its also causing me to wear my flip-flops less, she seems incredibly taken with them in particular!
Check out all my maxi-skirted FF babes!

Aussie Curves: Colour Clash

Whenever I think about colour clashing, I always imagine a bunch of different toned colours in the same family. I was always really careful about either directly matching my colours, or wearing completely different ones- I would never wear different hues of the same one! That's so not fashionable!!! GASP!! Well, here is what I think about that these days! ;)

Dress and Blazer: Forever 21+
Earrings: Real Divas are Large (clip-ons)
Flats: Rubi
Handbag: eBay

I love all the blue hues- turquoise, navy, cerulean! Oh and then some yellow earrings. And a bright brown bag. Yes. I think that's enough colour clashing for one day! I added the blazer for a little bit more warmth on these wintery, windy days. I guess you could call it a boyfriend blazer. With a relaxed fit, plenty of arm space and the toasty feel of it, I always feel like I'm slipping into a comfy jumper rather than a structured blazer!

I'm obsessed with these earrings. Finding funky clip-ons is pretty much one of my favourite past times. And worst indulgences! The handbag was a little internet find, I wasn't sure how I would wear it but I couldn't resist!

How do you colour clash??

Fatshion Faceoff: Peter Pan Collar

Being the very organized bloggers that we are (!), us FF girls pick our weekly challengers quite a few months in advance now. The benefit of this is of course no last minute stress about theme picking, the problem is that the top I was totally obsessed about when I choose Peter Pan collar for this week, I'm no longer fussed about! Sooooooo I've gone back through my wardrobe and chosen an old favourite to pair with a new beauty!!

Skirt: Harlow
Peplum Belt: ASOS Curve
Bracelet: Torrid
Flats: Rubi

I have been lusting after pretty much everything on the Harlow website since their launch this year. I finally got my hands on this awesome skirt from Suger when she visited for my birthday party and I've worn it quite a few times since! I love the feel of the material and the smooth silhouette it gives, its really, really great quality. Sizing wise, this is a 20 and I could really do with a size bigger, purely for the grip over my belly, but there is no issues at all with comfort.

I loooooovvveee the print on this awesome Dorothy Perkins top!! It seems to make everything look cute (check it out here!!)! It always makes me think of that Lady GaGa and Beyonce Telephone song. Love it!!!

Make sure you check out all my ladies!!

Fatshion Faceoff: Button-up blouse with necklace

I think that if you have been here more than twice, you've probably already noticed my serious statement necklace addiction (hmmm.... shall I just add that to the collection of my fashion addictions?). This particular eye catching beauty is one of my FFFWeek necklaces- It's going to be neatly packed and then styled up for our NYC adventure!

Necklace: eQuip
Blouse: ASOS Curve
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Clutch: Thrifted
Flats: Rubi Shoes

This blouse is quite long, I couldn't imagine myself wearing it totally out and relaxed. In the past, I've tucked it into a high waisted skirt to get rid of some of that extra material. But with the soft jersey of this skirt, it was making the material sit awkwardly and all lumpy. I think tying it at the waist instead ended up looking awesome. And super funky with the turquoise pops of colour!

On a side (makeup) note, I've just gotten into lipsticks. I've been playing around with reds for the two weeks or so and am working myself up to trying different bold colours. But I still can't seem to make them last properly on my top lip!!! Even with stains rather than a stick. Any lip-colour secrets????!?

I actually was realllllllyy looking forward to this post- all the FF ladies have awesome necklace collections!! I can't wait to see which ones they have chosen!

Fatshion Faceoff: Vintage Bag

The Fatshion Faceoff theme this week is one of my favourite things to buy- a vintage handbag. There is nothing that gives me more of a thrill than finding a fabulous, well preserved glomesh bag. I have a bit of a problem, a definite glomesh addiction. This silver beauty is my absolute favourite:

Skirt: Nerd Alert Creations via Etsy
Belt: ASOS Curve
Tights: We Love Colours
Flats: Rubi

How totally rad is this skirt?!? I am a total closet nerd at heart and fell in love with this etsy shop the minute I saw their Doctor Who inspired goodies- and all custom make-able up to a size 44 inch waist! They have the coolest range of funky print skirts and aparons, I can't wait to jump back on and get a few more!

I love dressing up gorgeous glomesh bags with funky modern outfits, its like wearing a clash of decades! This particular bag is one of the originals from the early 1960's late 1950's. You can totally imagine the type of glamours parties they may have been to in the past, holding a pack of cigarettes, glass compacts and some folded notes. Now I carry my iPhone, credit card and chap stick in them! I feel honoured every time I add one to my collection. Like carrying a piece of history with me forever!

Check out all the Fatshion Faceoff ladies!
