Fatshion Faceoff: Pattern clash

I'm relatively new to the pattern clash world. It was something that was always drummed into me- 'don't wear those two items together- they clash!!'  It's quite funny now I look back at it because I think some of the coolest outfits are the ones that have bold, statement patterns together. It's almost like its SO clashy it's cool!

Jeans: Torrid
Top: Lilly and Lou
Flats: Payless
World necklace: Modcloth
'Stache bracelet: Forever 21

This outfit took my pattern clashing to a new level. It's not only two quite individual looks, it's also a mix of colors- pales and black! I've had these jeans for a while and am a shocker at lazily just combining them with an equally light coloured plain tee. I figured I'd totally push my comfort zone and wear some black with them (gasp!). On that's note, have you seen my FB clothes sale?? I have a second pair of these jeans I'm selling!! ;)

Sometimes when I'm wearing jeans I scrap taking a hangbag and just stuff my pockets! I normally travel quite light anyway (as any chronic hand bag swapper will tell you!), I basically only carry my keys, wallet, phone and a lipgloss around. We took this cheeky little pic so you could see where all my stuff was! ;)

Make sure you check out all my FF babes and their own pattern clashing outfits!

Aussie Curves: Celebrate

I hadn't planned to play along in this week's Aussie Curves, but as it turned out we did do some extra special celebrating on Sunday night! It was my little brothers birthday and the family all met out in town for dinner at our favourite restaurant The Morrison (f you happen to be in Brisbane you have to check it out, ammazzzziinng steaks!!). Once you add up Mum and Dad, the four kids and our partners- its almost always someone's birthday!

Blake was lucky enough to have three birthday cakes- two Cheesecake shop beauties and the most amazing white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake! Omnomnomnom! I could have eaten the whole thing! He was also extremely spoilt by his girlfriend Ally, she covered the couch in his presents!

Peplum: City Chic
Jeans: Torrid
Flats: Payless
Jacket: Lilly and Lou
Clutch: Target
Robot necklace: Diva

I dressed more for comfort than fashion, but I think it's nice to sometimes show the 'everyday' outfits rather than the flashy, dressed up ones. On that note you've probably noticed on IG that I've been living in this jacket. Its so cute and comfy and matched everything, I love how bold and fresh it makes the otherwise pretty simple outfit look.

The robot necklace is a funky old favourite. I can't actually remember where I got it from, but Ben is pretty sure its from Diva. Fashion jewellery has come so far in the last few years, there are lots of those cheap and fantastic accessory shops now, so many in fact that I often forget where I get some of my pieces from! It makes it so easy to add oomph to an outfit when you know you can buy a piece like this for $8! Sure its not a last forever, mindblowing piece, but its cute and makes me smile when I wear it. So I think that is a well spent eight bucks!

What do you wear for casual celebrations??

Aussie Curves: Homemade

I'm only just starting to experiment with my own DIY skills. I love hearing about people who buy a dress and cut it down to a skirt or turn an old jacket into a handbag (and if you are looking for an AWESOME DIY blogger, check out Trees here). The extent of my current DIY portfolio is sewing a button on or patching a hole. So, when Suger offered to make me something, I was pretty stoked about it. I guess it also means I've technically cheated, but hey, its pretty cool to be able to say there is only one other like it! (Check out Melissa's matching top here!)

Top: DIY'd by Melissa from Suger Coat It
Blazer: City Chic
Tights: Lilly and Lou
Clutch: Ruby and Kit
Boots: Unsure, picked up at a clothes swap!

And how totally rad did the iron on transfer look! I'm glad it turned out so rad as well, Suger's iron-burnt fingers need to know they are numb for a reason!

I've been dying for it to be cold enough for boots and the nights are definitely boot worthy at the moment. Winter fashion is so much fun. You can add boots and a blazer to anything to take it to the next level. I'm such a layer whore, it almost makes me want to move somewhere less tropical.

This clutch is on high rotation at the moment.I'm trying to consolidate by handbag usage down to this one only. I got myself into a sticky situation when I couldn't find my private health card last week. Because I switch and change my handbags so often, I often remove my eftpos and ID card and just leave everything else in there ( an awful habit I know, I keep buying chapsticks because I lose them in changeovers!). So my health cards were in the wrong clutch- epic inconvenience!

I added in this last photo that Ben took before I was ready. This outfit is so comfy. I'm basically wearing my PJ's out on the town!

Do you DIY???

Fatshion Faceoff: Animal brooch

I can't resist a cute little vintage brooch. I remember my Nanna wearing them when I was growing up, she would have the most awesome sparkly, crystal brooch that she would put on last before heading out the door and when she got home it was straight off and back on to her dressing table with the rest of them! I always thought they were such a beautiful addition to her outfits.

Tunic: 17 Sundays
Tights: Lily and Lou
Scarf: ASOS
Blazer: City Chic
Brogues: Rivers
Handbag: some random shop
Brooch: Vintage thrifted
I can't decide what this animal is. Its almost like a dragon, a griffin and a lion. I guess I liked it mostly because it reminded me of the Griffindor logo in Harry Potter! Anyway, it was a totally rad $4 bargain and I adore the way it looks on this stripey jacket!

I can't remember where I picked up this bag but its become a wardrobe regular. I love the pop of colour and the little quirky detail it brings to an outfit. And need I even mention that TOTAL AWESOME that is my new moustache scarf- its pretty much the coolest thing in the world.

Check out all my ladies with their brooches this week!

Aussie Curves: Androgynous

I define my general style as pretty girly and feminine, so when this weeks androgynous theme came up, I was unsure what I was going to pull together. As it turns out, I had loads of fun bringing this outfit together and actually felt like a total babe while wearing it out!

Top: Lily and Lou via Big W
Pants: ASOS Curve
Blazer: Forever 21+
Bracelet and Clutch: Torrid
Wedges: Betts
Watch: eBay
Tie: Tweed River

The main kind of feel I was going for was a mix of structure and colour. The classic lines of the blazer and the pants are balanced out by feminine touches of colour and the relaxed fit top. And of course with my hair slicked back and the added tie, I feel like I'm channeling my inner lady-killer ;)

I adored these ASOS Curve floral peg trousers when I saw them online and I snapped them up the minute I could. I think its a real shame they are made from a jersey, in a tailored poly-blend material they would sit so much better. Albeit they are super comfy! I'm loving the bold print and the wa y they run into a skinny cut around the ankles. They also give a much more masculine shape than my usual jeans or pants.

In outfits like this, if I don't tuck my shirt in I feel like I'm getting lost under layers; plus I always feel sexiest when I'm tucked in! Overall, I'm really happy with the way it all ended up coming together and it definitely pushed me out of my usual (pink and frilly!) comfort zone.

How do you feel about the androgynous style??

Aussie Curves: Nature

Nature..... hmmmmmm. Would I say I'm a naturey person? Probably not.  Well I like the beach. And I like the forest. And I love the wild view from my balcony. So maybe I am??? Anyway, I interpreted this theme as flowers and brights, because they make me happy! Like the beach! ;)

Top: Lily and Lou via Best and Less
Skirt: Dream Diva
Body necklace: Diva
Shoes: swapped

Melissa and Kel popped around for lunch last weekend and Suger was kind enough to take these piccys for me! We also spent quite a bit if time playing in my room-robe with Suger helping me plan my outfit! I love dressing up and playing with clothes. Even better with equally as stylish and fabulous plus-size bloggy friends!

I adore the colours on this Dream Diva skirt. Its a purple, pink and turquoise explosion!! I don't give it as much love as it deserves, I really must find more tops to go with it. This Lily and Lou tank was actually not what I had initially intended to pair with it, but it went perfectly! Plus I think I need to be injecting some more colour into my outfits!

I'm totally obsessed with body chains at the moment, This beauty I picked up for $6 in the Diva sales! Bargain!! I've been wearing it with everything! They take statement necklace to a whole new level, its subtle- but everywhere!!!

How would you wear this skirt???
