OOTD: floral and denim

We headed out for dinner for Libby's birthday recently, you know cockatils, food and good company. My favourite type of nights. I wanted to wear this cute little Forever 21+ dress but its a little on the nippy side- sooooo, of course. Its THE JACKET time! I imagine that Hammer Time song every-time I put it on. Dooo do duh do, jacket time!

Dress: Forever 21+
Jacket: 17 Sundays
Clutch: Target
Flats: Rubi Shoes
Stockings: Sonsee Woman

I toasted up the outfit by wearing these Sonsee stockings in the opaque 100 Denier Full Tights. The team at Sonsee sent me a gorgeous little package of tights recently- perfect timing for the chilly change in weather. I'm a mega stockings fan- having a perfect pair of well fitting tights is almost better than a perfect pair of jeans. I've worn these out quite a few times and love the thickness and stretchiness of them. Sizing wise, I'm wearing a 'Stunning' size 22-24 and they fit pretty bang on. I have quite a long torso and short legs, so I had a little ankle sag in these after a few hours, but nothing that would ever stop me buying more of them.

As a side note, did you see Libby and I traded dresses that night?? Libby's dress was labeled 'one size fits all'- ahahahahahhaha! Do you like my leotard??? ;)

Curvy Couture Roadshow: What I wore

Hopefully by now you've already seen some of the awesome photos from the Curvy Couture Roadshow runway, so I figure I'll break it up a little and add my outfit in the middle! I wanted to have a look with a bit of edge as well as cuteness. But really, I started this look from the shoes up! I picked up these killer white flatforms in the Betts sales and I'd been waiting for a special occasion to rock them!

Dress: old stock ASOS Curve
Jacket: 17 Sundays
Tights: We Love Colors
Flatforms: Betts
Clutch: BooHoo

So it was the shoes and this amazing jacket. Seriously. Then the rest of this outfit just fell together. I've been getting some serious mileage out of this 17 Sundays jacket, its so easy to style up or down and its incredibly comfy.

I was acutely aware of what I was putting in my handbag with this clear clutch. You know how they say your eyes are the window to your soul? Well they were wrong, a clear handbag is the window to a women's soul! I repacked and changed my handbag contents several times before I felt that it was suitable public viewing. And ended up stashing my tampons in Sugers bag! HA!

I love this last photo that Nat snapped of Suger and I getting out photos! :-D

Fatshion Faceoff: Animal brooch

I can't resist a cute little vintage brooch. I remember my Nanna wearing them when I was growing up, she would have the most awesome sparkly, crystal brooch that she would put on last before heading out the door and when she got home it was straight off and back on to her dressing table with the rest of them! I always thought they were such a beautiful addition to her outfits.

Tunic: 17 Sundays
Tights: Lily and Lou
Scarf: ASOS
Blazer: City Chic
Brogues: Rivers
Handbag: some random shop
Brooch: Vintage thrifted
I can't decide what this animal is. Its almost like a dragon, a griffin and a lion. I guess I liked it mostly because it reminded me of the Griffindor logo in Harry Potter! Anyway, it was a totally rad $4 bargain and I adore the way it looks on this stripey jacket!

I can't remember where I picked up this bag but its become a wardrobe regular. I love the pop of colour and the little quirky detail it brings to an outfit. And need I even mention that TOTAL AWESOME that is my new moustache scarf- its pretty much the coolest thing in the world.

Check out all my ladies with their brooches this week!

Aussie Curves: Body-con

As far as body-consciousness goes, the body-con style (aptly named- pun totally intended lol) definitely pushes some boundaries for me. I always agonize over a dress that is super tight over my belly and waist, but then I look at the pictures- (and listen to the compliments I get!!) and then wonder why I bother worrying!

Dress: Torrid
Heels: Betts

I actually think that body-con style really suits a plus-size body. I know for me, they draw attention to my hour glass shape- something that often ends up getting hidden under clothes! So even though it pushes me on to the edge of my confidence, I definitely feel like it does my shape favours! And ultimately, living on the edge of your own self-imposed style boundaries is what makes fashion so much fun, right?

So where do I start with this dress. Well, apart from being an absolute show stopper, its also amazingly comfy and makes me feel fabulous. The sleeves are made with the perfect amount of stretch so you don't have that awful 'stuck in the arm hole' feeling, while the second layer of lace gives me a bit more confidence (and less tramp-feeling) in such a body hugging outfit. Without a doubt, Torrid have delivered on the perfect plus-size dress again! And even better, this dress is now on sale! Winning!!

I'm obsessed with body-chains at the moment. Real Diva's Are Large have a really awesome range of fabulous body chains and necklaces and all built with our more-generous body shape in mind. This particular one is my current favourite- I'm building up quite the collection! I wish it came in straight silver rather than the two tone, but again, it adds the extra element to the outfit and looks great with the black.

The wedges are from Betts- my go to Aussie shoe shop for bargain finds. They always have the best sales and these beauties were picked up for under $20! Score!!!

What do you think about body-con styles???

FFFWeek: Indie Designs Showcase

The second last night of Full Figured Fashion Week was by far the most inspiring event of the week- the Indie Designs Showcase. There were some truly amazing pieces that I'm dying to get my hands on! Here are some of my favourite piccys of the night! (on a side note- really must buy a DSLR!!!)

My personal favourite designer was definitely 17 Sundays. It was fabulous seeing Australian plus-size fashion represented on the international catwalk! Their collection was fresh, funky and made me truly proud to be coming from a country showcasing such wicked original style.

Ashley Nell Tipton's collection also rocked the catwalk that night! Her designs are so free, playful and yet structured- I can imagine wearing them everywhere!!

Savannah Red presented a real quirky and original collection. The pieces were full of real Texas fun and spunky fabulousness! And the designer Anslee is a total babe too!! (Following pictures by Danimezza)

These are just a few of my favourite highlights- there were some awesome collections displayed! It's really inspiring to see where the plus-size Fashion world is heading, we are getting there slowly but surely!

After the main event, Nicole, Bec, Karen, JenJess and I headed out for some dinner and drinks- and I think by the time these photos were taken I was several wines in! ;)

What a fabulous bunch of babes!!

One of the greatest things about Full Figured Fashion Week was the chance to mingle and meet some of my blogging heroes! I was honored to finally meet Chastity of Garner Style and Kiah of From The Rez to The City. They are both such amazing and fashionable women!

Top: ASOS Curve
Skirt: Domino Dollhouse
Shoes: Rubi Shoes

I wore my favourite Domino Dollhouse Bow Out Skirt and ASOS Curve cage top-love!!! I had also picked up quite a few funky bracelets while shopping in NYC which I thought went great with this outfit! I caved and wore flats though- it had been a big week of heels and I couldn't face them!!

Another huge thanks to Nicole and her fab DSLR skills for these piccys!

Phew! Well I'm finally getting to the end of my FFFWeek posts! Thankyou for all following along- only two more posts to go! :)
