OOTD: Festive outfits round-up

Happy new year! Happy Christmas! HAPPY FESTIVE SEASON SHENANIGANS!!
With all that has been happening the last few months I've been a bit blogging AWOL. I figure my best way to get back on track is to give you a festive season outfit rundown! I love getting frocked up for the silly season. You get to look pretty, eat loads of food, drink far too much and give and receive presents- love it!!

CHRISTMAS DAY

Dress: Modcloth
Hair Garland: Lovisa
Thongs: Crocs

Christmas Day is always the hardest to dress for. I weigh up that cuteness/comfort factor. I know I'm going to be doing lots of wandering and walking and loads of eating- so a stretchy outfit and comfy shoes are a must! I know they are pretty much the ugliest things in the world, but I adore my Croc thongs. You can't go past that soft and squishy sole- they keep my happy on my feet all day long!

I knew the minute I opened it that this dress would be my Christmas dress. Its got a very structured cut, but is made from a soft stretchy polyester that is surprisingly breathable. I felt cute and summery all day long!

BOXING DAY

Dress:
Modcloth

Flats: Target
Necklace: ASOS
Clutch: Kate Hill

What is not to love about this dress?! Rainbows, sparkles and polkadots!! The cut runs a little on the large side though- this was the 3X and I could have easily worn the 2X. Its on sale for under $30 right now and I'm so tempted to get the smaller size! I always get so many compliments on it- its bright and super eye catching! Plus its a great Summer weight that was easy to wear all day! Bonus!

NEW YEARS EVE

Dress: City Chic
Belt: ASOS Curve
Flats: Target
Side Bag: eQuip

Ahhhh NYE. I busted out an old favourite for our big night out. We bought tickets to an 'all you can drink' NYE gala and yes, it got a little messy. On nights like this, I always dress with the notion that accidental crutch flashing could occur. This dress never ceases to be a stunner and keep me modest. The shape is gorgeous and sits in a way that I know it will look nice all night long. Plus the contrasting satin and velvet material adds a new dimension to it. Then glam it it up with some bling and banging eyemakeup and I'm ready to rock!

How do you dress up for the silly season??

Fatshion Faceoff: Mini Skirt

Min skirts are well and truly my thing. I love a cute, flirty little skirt paired with a funky top. It always makes me feel free and girly. Last weekend we went to the Beaudesert show where a friend of mine had airbrushed one of the derby cars. So we went along for carnival fun and to watch his art work get smashed up- what a perfect time to feel girly and fun!

Top & Blazer: Forever 21+
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Stockings: We Love Colors
Flats: Crocs
Handbag & Necklace: eQuip

I couldn't resist mixing up my colours and shapes for this outfits. I figure a local fair is the perfect chance to be able to dress as crazy as I want! Florals, stripes, gold, black and turquoise! Winning!

I love adding a slouchy boyfriend blazer to an otherwise dressy outfit. It instantly makes me feel more relaxed and chilled. Plus it's super warm and easy to layer with. I adore this turquoise beauty so much that I have it in purple as well!

As always, check out all my ladies and their own take on min-skirts! If you haven't already noticed, we've decided to do our FF posts fortnightly now- which I think we give us all a great break!

Fatshion Faceoff: Mary Jane shoes

So I'm not going to lie. My favourite pair of Mary Jane shoes are my Crocs. I've never hidden my obsession with Crocs and I seriously cannot rave about them enough. When I'm not blogging, my 'real-world' job is nursing. That means twelve hour shifts on your feet, standing during procedures, rocking a baby to sleep and running around the wards. Couple that with a size 22 body and that's a whooooole lot of pressure on two little tootsies. They have literally saved my aching feet from worlds of pain. And then, once they got a little less ugly (expanding the range away from the original clog like shape was a master move for Crocs!), I was quick to adapt them into my everyday wardrobe as well!

Blazer and skirt: Torrid
Peplum: City Chic
Tights: We Love Colors
Clutch: Bijoux Terner
Mary Janes: Crocs
Ring: Thrifted

I really like the shape of a mary jane shoe. The little extra strap always reminds me of wearing shoes when I was little. I swear the only type of shoes I had were jiffies or MJ style flats!

Obviously I know they still aren't the best looking shoe around, but when I'm the last left standing on the dancefloor at 3am, I'm extremely happy I'm not sitting in the corner with you and your mega heels! And of course I have to endure lots of giggling from my girlfriends when they post e-cards like this on my Facebook wall! ;)

How totally rad is this Torrid blazer! I'm loving it to bits! I couldn't resist adding the red and anchor for a dressed up nautical vibe. The ring was the coolest find at a vintage fair. It was in a $1 box and fit perfectly on to my middle and forth finger- it was meant to be!

And seriously, admit it, those shoes are still cute! Comfy and cute- the perfect shoe! :-D

Check out all the FF babes this week!

Fatshion Faceoff: Coloured Tights

This weeks Fatshion Faceoff challenge item is coloured stockings- one of my all time favourite outfit punching things to wear! If you haven't heard me raving about We Love Colors yet, you must be living on another planet. I literally cannot recommend them enough- they are without a doubt the comfiest stockings I've ever worn. Available in over fifty colours and with a size chart that caters to up to 170ks/6foot, they pretty much have everyone covered. And amongst my seemingly ever-growing collection of We Love Color's tights, is this spanking hot purple pair!

Dress and belt: New Look Inspire (belt bought separately)
Blazer: ASOS Curve
Bag and ring: eQuip
Necklace: Modcloth
Tights: We Love Colors
Flats: Crocs

Last night we went out to the Twilight Markets to stock up on fresh produce and other such mid-week market goodies. I was much more lavishly dressed than I normally would be for such an outing, but I wanted to show off a way you can wear coloured stockings without looking too 'alternative' or dressed down (both ways I tend to normally wear them!)

As you can see, I've finally had some shape cut into my hair. I've literally been growing it our for five years (from a short spiky red hair-do!) and have been waiting for the length before I cut into it. I even toyed with the idea of going back to brunette, but at the moment I'm totally loving the bangs! What do you think??

The dress is an old favourite from New Look Inspire that I picked up on our Holiday of Awesome. There is something about stripes. They are always such an eye-catching outfit maker. Couple that with the super bright tights and I'm basically walking around screaming to be looked at! I feel like the structure of the blazer balances out the attention seeking boldness of the rest of the outfit, its the perfect professional finish to an otherwise loud look (plus, I suppose me being loud in general probably doesn't help ;).

Can't wait to see all my brightly coloured stocking-ed Fatshion Faceoff babes this week!

Fatshion Faceoff: Red Dress

Red dresses are my thing. You know how they say ' oh blah lag is my Homeboy!'. Well, red dresses are mine. They always have my back. There is something about slipping a smoking' hot red dress on that makes me feel like the sexiest young thing in the room. When my choice for FF theme came up I chose red dress without hesitation, all while envisioning myself in some smouldering eye makeup and killer heels. Despite these imaginations, for this week challenge I didn't end up tearing up the dance floors in my little, tight and jaw dropping red dress, instead I was out for a civilised dinner in my 1950's inspired colour block red dress!

Belt: New Look Inspire
Bag: Vintage Glomesh
Flats: Crocs

I'm sometimes a hit and miss with Dorothy Perkins' size 22. But boy oh boy, when it's a hit, it's a HIT! I fell in love with this dress the minute I slipped it on. The shape, the cut, the colours the neckline print! Swwwooonnnn! I literally audibly sighed in the change rooms. The poor chick next to me must have thought I was up to no good with the handsome bearded man who had been carrying my bags around ;)

I added the belt because the coral seems to deliciously balance out the red and subtle burnt orange. And then the bold yellow necklace pops against the black and of course (*ahem* the real reason is) I can't seem to control myself when it comes to 'stache accessorising ;)

Now I know the crocs have been seeing a lot of blog love lately, but they are just so damn comfortable and cute I can't help it! Go try some on stat!!

And now of course to check out all my lovely and babely red-dressed FF chickies!

Aussie Curves: Mixing Patterns

I really do love to mix patterns. I had this colourful and bright outfit planned for this weeks challenge but I ended up with this more everyday pattern-clashing look instead!

Top: Lily and Lou
Jeans: Torrid
Jacket: Crossroads
Necklace: TS14+
Watch: eQuip
Flats: Crocs
Clutch: Vintage Glomesh

I wore this outfit to a work conference all day today. Its nice to be out of uniform and in something more comfy. But even when we get to wear free clothes like this, I need to make sure I still look professional(ish). That's where my super-jeans come in. I seriously can't get enough of these Torrid Stiletto jeans, they are INSANELY comfortable and such an awesome fit!

These wicked flats are actually made by Crocs. Its no secret I have a soft spot for those ugly, ugly sandals- they are the only thing I can last a full twelve hour shift in. Soooooo, when I found out they had cuter (but still comfy and squishy) versions, I grabbed some!

I snapped up this TS14+ necklace in one of their fab BOGO50%OFF accessory sales and its been so easy to quickly throw into an outfit. The clashing stripes and spots give the look so much more punch. Meanwhile keeping the colours relatively tame, I could add some pattern-mixing fun and still keep the outfit-workplace safe.

And of course- how mad is this watch!!!! Not even 5 minutes into these photos though- the band broke! Bummer!

How do you pattern mix?
Do you have a work uniform??
