Fatshion Faceoff: Christmas

Family, friends and good food. These are the three words that I love most about the holiday season. A full belly, a glass of wine in your hand and surrounded by loved ones. There is so much sharing, happiness and good times. Its just fantastic.

These happy snaps were taken at an early Christmas dinner with my closet girlfriends and it has all of those things mentioned above. Bliss!

I adore these girls. Celebrating the end of a fabulous year with my fabulous ladies!

Skirt: Modcloth
Dress and Hat + Neo's outfit: Cheap shop
Wedges: ZU/ Thongs: Crocs

Funnily enough the top I'm wearing is actually a size 8 mini-dress. Its tight yes, but makes a fabulous top with my Modcloth skirt. And yet more proof that tag size is just that- a tag; its always worth trying things on!

Getting all costumed up alwasy adds to the fun of holidays and parties! I couldn't resist this Aussie Santa suit for Ben with short sleeves and arms for our hot Christmas! And of course, Neo looks like the cutest thing since Shirley Temple in her little outfit! She is growing so fast though she was already too big for it!

Check out all my festive babes this week and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!

Fatshion Faceoff: 80's inspired (Suger's 30th)

Eighties fashions have always been my favourites. The colours, bold cuts, ruffles and textures- LOVE it! I wish I could get away with wearing a ra-ra skirt and fishnets everyday, but not skanky leg fishnets, I'm talking clothes shaped fishnets ;)

So when Melissa invited us to her neon themed 30th, I knew it was the perfect time to bust out as much fluffy, bright and fishnetted stuff as I could!

Purple skirt: City Chic
Pink tights: We Love Colors
Black tank: Lilly and Lou
Silver flats: Rubi
Fishnets, fluffy boots and wig: Discount Halloween Costumes

I've been meaning to post up those photos for months and time keeps disappearing! But they were perfect for showing my 80's fashion love at it max so I couldn't resist using them for this post!

I love hanging out with Melissa and Kel. They are such genuine and fun people to be around. I wish we lived closer to each other so we could see each other more often.

It was lovely seeing them surrounded by their friends and family. It was a great night full of laughter, dancing and neon! Seriously, how totally rad does that cake look!! Omnomnomnom!

This outfit basically started with one item. A pink fishnet top?! I had to have that. And what do I wear with a barely-boob-covering pink fishnet thingy? Add more pink, purple, fluff and glow sticks of course! Obviously not technically eighties style, but rave boots are pretty much the cutest accessory in town. And being that I'm not so much of a raver, I had to wear these bad boys somewhere right?! I needed to score and invite to a neon themed party. Stat!

I can't wait to see the other ladies rock thief ra-ra's!!

Aussie Curves: Sequins (& my disco birthday party!!!)

Soooooo as I mentioned last week, on Saturday was my disco themed birthday party!! There is nothing cooler than when your mates have the dedication to come dressed up in a theme for your birthday- and how totally awesome are costumes parties?! Admit it, the best party you ever went to was the one where everyone dressed up right?? And also, how convenient that this weeks Aussie Curves theme is sequins!!

Dress (+ extra material to make it fit!): Spotlight
Ben's Suit: BuyCostumes.com

This particular costume was a size 10 from Spotlight and Ben (being the super-man-friend that he is) but a sequin panel in the back to make it fit for me! He also made that sequin top he is wearing! What a keeper! So I'm not going to blab on too much about how totally awesome my birthday party was, I'm just going to photo spam you instead!!

Do you like dress up parties???

Aussie Curves: Celebrity Copycat

Earlier this week I had a whole lot of trouble deciding what celebrity I would use for this Aussie Curves post- I honestly had no idea who my style was like. It was Jess that gave me the idea for Marilyn Monroe, she suggested I go with blonde and pink and try Barbie! And then playing around with ideas led me to the fabulous Miss Monroe!

And really, out of all the style icons in history, isn't she the most iconic and recognizable! And the first official curvy fashionista!

This year also marks 50 years since she passed away- it was meant to be, I had to bust some Marilyn out!! ;)

As you can no doubt see from these photos, the outfit was a whole lot of fun! The makeup was awesome and so different to what I normally do- I think I've picked up some snazzy little tips for the future! To me, the most important part of this style was getting the makeup right, I took an hour to paint that face on!!

I really love any excuse to get into a costume and dress up, Best bit of all though- this dress is just some material that I've pinned behind me- cheap costume win!!

Who would you celebrity copycat????

Birthday Shenanigans!

It was my twenty-sixth birthday two days ago and I'm a big believer in stretching out celebrations as much as I can. On the day, Ben and I went out for wines (OOTD to come soon!) and tomorrow we are hitting the town with some girlfriends for dancing and shenanigans!

I have always been a little bit birthday crazy and this will be the first year in ages we won't be having a big house party; main reason of course- we are still houseless! But in the spirit of celebration I wanted to show you a few of the rad parties we have had over the past five birthdays!

I've been:
- A zombie prom queen
- A BDSM dungeon mistress
- A detective in the Hottie Police
- A... well this one is just 22 year old me dancing ;)
- And a 21 year old princess!

I can't wait for tomorrow night and officially sharing my birthday with the bloggy world for the first time!

What do you do for your birthday????
