OOTD: a touch of white

Apparently my brain is still in holiday mode, I keep forgetting to bring my camera out to snap some outfit photos. I have been doing stuff I swear!

For this outfit, we had some last minute dinner plans get organised, leaving me with very little time to get ready. But its easy to pull together an ensemble with such an easy to style wardrobe essential; I had truly underestimated the power of a structured white blazer. I've had this jacket from BooHoo in my wardrobe since we got home and every time I wear it I feel instantly chic. With the rocking, slouchy boyfriend cut, sharp lapels and upturned cuffs, it transitions so well between relaxed and tailored outfits.

Dress: City Chic
Jacket: c/o BooHoo
Wedge Boots: Torrid
Clutch: Target
Necklace: Colette

I wanted a little more colour than the basic monochrome look, so added my favourite coral clutch from Target. I ordered these open toe booties during the Torrid 50% off international shipping sale and am sooooo happy with them! I was tossing up between the two on my Facebook page and am definitely happy I took your advice and ordered these rather than the closed toe, I can see these getting year-round wear!

Liv Gets Crafty: Walnut and Avocado salad

I posted a picture on social media yesterday of a salad I made for a BBQ we attended. It's one of my Mum's salads she whips up for the family all the time and since I had quite a few people ask, here is the recipe complete with homemade dressing!

Ingredients:

Salad

½ cup walnuts
100g baby rocket leaves
½ red onion finely sliced
2 avocados sliced

Dressing

3 tabelspoons of olive oil
2 tabelspoons of lemon juice (I find I can normally squeeze this from one lemon, but I buy two just to be sure)
2 teaspoon wholegrain mustard

Directions:

- At 170 degrees, oven cook the walnuts for 5 minutes and then roughly chop

- Combine oil, mustard and lemon juice in a jar and shake well

- Arrange rocket and onion on a plate

- Drizzle with half of the dressing mix

- Top with avocado

- Add the rest of the dressing and then top with walnuts (best served when the walnuts are still warm).

OOTD: Pink moustache

Since getting home, its been lovely to unearth all my stored Winter jackets again. I always forget how much I love Winter fashion, snuggly layers and leggings are definitely my home-girls. I was sent this cute little shift dress from the team at BooHoo and am loving its thick flocked feel- its perfect for these chilly days.

Dress: c/o BooHoo
Jacket: Target
Necklace: Scrabblicious Designs
Stockings: c/o Sonsee Woman
Flats: Rubi shoes
Handbag: Thrifted ($1!)

I layered it up with my old Target knee length jacket. I love the drama a full jacket brings to an outfit. Its slight skater like hem nicely balances out the body hugging cut of the Yazzmin Waffle Dress. Size wise, I'm wearing the UK24 and it fits just that little bit loose over my shoulders, the 22 would probably have been better but I like the way the rest of the dress sits regardless. ANNNNDDD. Pockets! Yes!!! Dresses with pockets people!! Is there a way we can just make them a worldwide standard? I can never resist a dress with pockets, couple that with its killer bold pink and this dress is a total winner for me.

I had this totally rad, moustache letter, scrabble piece necklace commissioned by local babe Carrissa, who owns Scrabblicious Designs. It played off perfectly with my tan brogues giving a more edgy feel to the outfit. This is the second time I've worn this dress and on the first occasion I styled it in a much more dressy and (for lack of a better word) stereotypically girly way. I love that it can so easily transition to a more relaxed outfit as well.
