Fatshion Faceoff: Red Dress

Red dresses are my thing. You know how they say ' oh blah lag is my Homeboy!'. Well, red dresses are mine. They always have my back. There is something about slipping a smoking' hot red dress on that makes me feel like the sexiest young thing in the room. When my choice for FF theme came up I chose red dress without hesitation, all while envisioning myself in some smouldering eye makeup and killer heels. Despite these imaginations, for this week challenge I didn't end up tearing up the dance floors in my little, tight and jaw dropping red dress, instead I was out for a civilised dinner in my 1950's inspired colour block red dress!

Belt: New Look Inspire
Bag: Vintage Glomesh
Flats: Crocs

I'm sometimes a hit and miss with Dorothy Perkins' size 22. But boy oh boy, when it's a hit, it's a HIT! I fell in love with this dress the minute I slipped it on. The shape, the cut, the colours the neckline print! Swwwooonnnn! I literally audibly sighed in the change rooms. The poor chick next to me must have thought I was up to no good with the handsome bearded man who had been carrying my bags around ;)

I added the belt because the coral seems to deliciously balance out the red and subtle burnt orange. And then the bold yellow necklace pops against the black and of course (*ahem* the real reason is) I can't seem to control myself when it comes to 'stache accessorising ;)

Now I know the crocs have been seeing a lot of blog love lately, but they are just so damn comfortable and cute I can't help it! Go try some on stat!!

And now of course to check out all my lovely and babely red-dressed FF chickies!

Aussie Curves: Purple

So its official. I am a peplum whore. Liv also likes long walks on the beach, margaritas, Pearl Jam and talking about myself in the third person. But its very true, I am now a slave to the peplum top. And since City Chic have them in such pretty colours, I knew the perfect way to bring on a little colour explosion for this weeks purple themed Aussie Curves!

Skirt, top and belt: City Chic
Necklace: TS14+
Shoes: Rubi

I think it's pretty obvious that pink is my favourite colour, but purple comes in a pretty close second! My sister is a purple girl, which works perfectly for colour themed presents between us, Rhian gets the purple and Liv gets the pink! And I get her purple hand-me-downs when she's done! ;)

I couldn't resist this TS14+ necklace in their accessory sales. They have a totally rad range of bold and eye catching necklaces that punch in an outfit.

I took these photos before we left for holidays ( haven't seen?? Come follow me on Instagram!) and it had just stopped raining. The top is thick enough that it's warm without being too cool and is long enough that I don't feel overexposed in the mini.

How do you feel about peplum tops???
Do you wear much bold colour??

Aussie Curves: Texture

I love mixing up textures and patterns in outfits- they add whole new dimension to an ensemble. I'm late in the week for this post because I was waiting for this totally rocking Koko sequined peplum dress to arrive. And as cute as it was, I couldn't resist adding this pleather panel skirt as well!

Dress: Koko via New Look
Skirt: City Chic
Wedges: Betts
Clutch: Rubi & Kit

What I love most about this dress is the pointed and structured midi-collar at the neck. The shape and the material together are like modern vintage- it almost feels like this could have been someone's prom dress in the 1980's.

As it turned out, there were heaps of different textures in this outfit. By the time I was ready to go I had thick crepe and sequins in the top, pleather and jersey on the skirt, faux crocodile on the purse and velvet and leather in the wedges!

Do you texture mix much??

Fatshion Faceoff: Denim Vest

I used to really love little denim vests. In fact, I just sold about five of them at my A Plus Size Wardrobe event. So when it came to this post I had no worries about styling one into an outfit. Ahhh, awkward. Apparently I now don't have any. So for this weeks Fatshion Faceoff I've substituted denim with crochet!

Dress: Torrid
Vest and thongs: Kmart
Necklace: Diva
Bag: Target

We were on the way to the markets when we snapped these piccys- complete with big bag for storing all my new pre-loved treasures! This vest is one of my favourite throw on styles. It gives an instant bohemian vibe and works perfectly in any outfit. It's going to be one of the first things I pack when we go on holidays next week!

The necklace was an absolute steal in the Diva post Christmas sales, it cost me $8! What a bargain!! The colour is fabulous and highlight the turquoise splashes in my Summer dress.

Alrighty, check out all the Fatshion Faceoff babes in their actual denim vests ;)

Fatshion Faceoff: Knitted Jumper

I love this top. It has the whole woolen, knitted/comfy look, but its actually quite thin and super light. And perfect for this weeks Fatshion Faceoff on the warmer side of the world!

Skirt: City Chic
Stockings: We Love Colors
Ring: Clothes swap
Earrings: Vintage markets
Shoes: Rubi
Headband: Diva

My love affair with 80's inspired fashion is no secret on this blog. Channeling a little Cindi Lauper or retro Madonna makes me feel like an instant rock star. Now, as much I would like to be wearing cone bras and hot pink tulle mini-skirts to the shopping center, it sure gets a whole lot of stares. Instead, I get more sedate 80's style fix by mixing bold colours with clashing textures and flowy tops with figure hugging bottoms.

Of course, I can't resist adding pink pops of colour! These Rubi Shoes flats come in about 30 different colours and are the best for adding some punch.

Pop and over and check out all the Fatshion Faceoff babes in their knitted jumpers!

Fatshion Faceoff: Printed Top/Dress

There are so many amazing animal shape printed tops around at the moment. Most of all I'm totally loving all the doggy print ones! But I guess I will always be a sucker for bird print!

Jeans: Torrid
Necklace: eBay

I have quite a few bird print tops/dresses. I think I like them because they remind me freedom and flying. What caught my eye about this one was the funky ruffles. Unlike the colour pink, plunging necklines and tight fitting clothes, its a style that has always stayed uniquely feminine. As much as I enjoy us all pushing the stereotypical boundaries of gender styling, it's still nice to be able to put something on and feel instantly girly.

Now I know that I've been wearing jeans far too much lately. But to be complete honest, it's just these amazing Torrid Stiletto jeans. I literally never want to take my arse out of them. I now have four pairs in different colours and lengths  I never really understood why people would wear them so often, I always thought jeans were constricting and uncomfortable. But these Torrid jeans truly are amazing. They feel like second skin and look like a million bucks! Even this faded pair. Before, if I was invited to a faded-jeans event I would have rather missed the party than be seen with my thighs in light coloured jeans. So if you haven't tried them on yet- go do it before I buy them all!!!

Aussie Curves: Feathers

Whenever I think of feathers in an outfit I always tend to go straight to the extreme- either completely tribal inspired or hard-core runway couture. I actually even thought about just giving this weeks theme a miss. But funnily enough, when getting dressed yesterday afternoon I did put some feathers on!!

Skirt: swapped
Tank: Lily and Lou
Necklace: Diva
Ear cuff: eQuip
Bracelets: Torrid + Diva

I guess it is still a tribal inspired outfit, but it just seemed to all fall together. It wasn't until I was getting ready and my arm candy was rattling around that I truly realised the feathers I was wearing! Amongst my bracelets are actually two sets of feathers- a peacock feather in the purple bangle and metal feathers hanging off the converted earring!

I love stacking up an armful of jewellery when wearing long skirts. I always feel free and hippy when wearing them. How cool is that. It's awesome how an outfit can inspire a whole outlook and effect my mood.

The colours on the skirt are so earthy and relaxed. I thought it balanced out the boldness of the necklace and flip-flops perfectly.

Sometimes all you need are the basics. A long skirt, tank and eye-catching accessories. Sunday afternoon chic in a second!

How do you wear feathers??
