OOTD: floral skirt and band tee

After whining about looking too 'tough' when I wear a band tee, I got into a conversation with Rosie from A Rose Like This about how to feminine up my stereotypical Pearl Jam fandom look. She blew me away by suggesting to wear the branded tee with a floral skirt! I'd never even thought about pairing those two together! So, here is my Rosie inspired rock-floral look!

Skirt: ASOS Curve
Belt: ASOS Curve
Shoes: Lane Bryant
Bracelets: Tree of Life
Necklace: Picked up at a clothes swap!

When I first bought this skirt, I wasn't sure how much I liked the lantern shape. But it's been hanging in my wardrobe for a while and it's seemed to relax the material to sit a little flatter.

I didn't even realise until I saw these pictures that the top was kind of see through. I think it may look more obvious because of the camera flash, but nonetheless, a flower print bra probably wasn't the best undergarment choice. In regards to sizing, this top is a Pearl Jam official merchandise tee in a women's size 2X. I have quite a few men's size large instead because the ladies tees run really small. This is probably more like a size 16.

The shoes were a bargain buy from Lane Bryant when we were in the USA. They are super comfy and can seriously be worn for hours. The pretty wooden bracelets are a surprising find in Tree of Life, they are just wider than average and perfect for my wrists.

I am so stoaked with this new look for me. If you haven't meet Rosie yet, go check her out- her style is uber fabulous! And she is going to be rocking her own floral skirt and band tee today as well! It's also so cool to be able to get worldwide styling tips on social media, fabulous chubby girls unite!!!

Fatshion Faceoff: Pussy Bow Top

I adore the look of a high neck bow. I feel instantly dressed up (and funnily enough- grown up) the minute I put one on. So for this weeks Fatshion Faceoff chosen by me, I picked my favourite girly style- the pussy bow top!

Top: Supre
Skirt: Virtu
Ring: Bought at the markets
Bracelet: Pandora

I had wanted this skirt for soooooo long! I couldn't control myself with the jacket (check it out here!) and bought it full price, but just snapped up the skirt for almost 70% in the recent Virtu sales! This was its first wear and being such a fab feminine shape, I thought it would look perfect with my pussy-bow top!

As it turns out, the particular top I was going to wear is missing. So I improvised and added this little satin belt to one of my tops- I think it ended up looking great!

The cute Pandora bracelet was a present from my sister for Christmas, I really like how delicate and different it is. Funnily enough, right before I opened this pressie I had just winged loud and annoyingly about how expensive Pandora charms are. Awkward lol ;)

Can't wait to see all the Fatshion Faceoff babes in their pussy-bow tops!

Aussie Curves: Shorts

I've only just re-discovered my love of shorts. It's been years since I wore them and then in the last few months I've bought three pairs! They have been perfect for relaxed casual wear in our Aussie Summer, but I also love dressing them up for as a cute alternative to normal cocktail wear.

Shorts: ASOS Curve
Top: Autograph
Stockings: We Love Colors

Apart from being ultra cute, these shorts have my two favourite things- polka dots and pockets! The cut is also structured enough that I don't feel to under dressed wearing them out.

By adding the stockings I feel less worried about a little upper thigh or bum check slip, and they add a bit more warmth for breezy nights. Plus I just really love these stockings find I often build my outfits around them!
Do you wear shorts?
What are your favourite types??

Fatshion Faceoff: Red Heels

I think any regular reader would know that I'm not a big heel wearer- but I do love wedges! I have a pretty awesome wedge collection, they are the perfect mix of heel height and comfort. So, when this weeks Fatshion Faceoff came about, I knew that I would be busting out these fabulous heels!

Dress: ASOS Curve
Wedges: Betts
Jacket: Domino Dollhouse
Hair Bow: Diva

I know I've posted about these beauties before, but they really are so amazing comfortable that I wear them all the time! The red is so bright and eye catching and the velvet feel adds an awesome texture element to an outfit.

I adore the shape of this dress. I love the way it flares out from the hips down. The jacket is one of my favourites from Domino Dollhouse. It's got a real rockabilly vibe to it and is light enough to wear all year round. And of course, like the shoes, the red is amazing!

Make sure you check out all the Fatshion Faceoff ladies in their red heels!

A Plus Size Wardrobe

After moving to a new house this year, it became truly official....... I have too many clothes. Couple that with the fact that loads of my curvy girlfriends are always on the lookout for new fashions, I thought how cool it would be to have a place we could all come, hang-out, mingle, buy and try on each others pre-loved clothes

So, I thought I'd just go ahead and organise one!

And I am very proud to say that on the weekend just gone, I hosted my first ever A Plus Size Wardrobe- a second-hand clothing market for sizes 14 and above!

I am so, so happy with how it all went! For our first ever event I am super happy with the turnout and there has been loads of positive feedback on our Facebook page! Held at Oxford 152 in Bulimba, we had our own private bathrooms as change areas, access to our own bar, delicious munchies and plenty of space to spread out and mingle!

We were also lucky enough to have brands come on board and support us as well! I contacted a few local companies to see if they were interested and Mel from MISSMEL not only signed up to have a table selling at the event, she also donated a prize to the lucky draw and sponsored the whole day!

The stall holders had us all covered for sizes and styles! There were five stalls in all (Mel from MISSMEL, Melissa from Suger Coat It, Kath from Fat Heffalump, Me and a local babe Monique), selling sizes 16-28, dresses and skirts, pants and shorts, tops and tanks, shoes, jewellery and accessories! Phew! There was a lot of goodies up for grabs!

As you can see by the pictures, it was a lot of fun mingling and chatting to the local plus-size community! A huge thank-you to all of those who popped down to support us and pick up some bargains! Also to TS14+ and Virtu who donated $100 gift vouchers for the lucky draw and all the brands who generously gave vouchers, merchandise and flyers for the goodie bags:

- Lash Me Eyelash Extensions
- Lil and Fred Handmade for Kids
- Cakeolicios Cakes by Mary
- Ezibuy
- MISSMEL, TS14+ and Virtu

We are already planning the next one for February 2013, so if you are a local Brisbane babe or even just passing through- we would love to see you there for a fabulous day of laughs, bargains and plus-size fashions!!

Aussie Curves: Bling

One of the things I love about Christmas time is all the parties that are on! Its the perfect opportunity to get ridiculously dressed up and not feel over the top..... that's what I tell myself anyway! ;)

Necklace: Diva
Flats: Rubi Shoes

I probably wear more bling in the festive season than I do in the whole year combined! Sparkle and Christmas go hand in hand- so I knew I wouldn't have an issue with this week's Aussie Curves post!

When I saw this velvet dress from Cult of California, I had to have it!! One of the things I love about this brand is the way they take an ordinary style and make it extraordinary  Apart from the obviously eye-catching velvet, it has small peplum side details and an exposed zip as well. And I love the sheer panels, you are essentially all covered up but still feel so sexy in this dress. It takes the 'Little Black Dress' design to a whole new level!

This funky little necklace was actually purchased earlier in the year for my work Gala Ball but I changed my mind at the last minute. I'm glad I bought it though- its so easy to wear and glams up any ensemble!! With the  mind-blowing dress I didn't want to overdo the accessories- but I think this necklace was just the right amount of bling! Oh, well that and mu shiny and fabulous engagement ring ;)

How do you bling up an outfit??
